The face of new Halco “Roosta Popper 160” is designed to produce maximum noise and splash out of a medium sized popper. The Australian company says that Roosta Popper’s distinctive shape give a long and extremely noisy bubble trail streams from either side of the popper. This allows the top and bottom leading edges of the reply cupped face to bite into the water and keep it tracking straight while allowing the cavitation bubbles and the subsequent noise to escape via the contoured sides.” Armed with strong 4/0 Mustad trebles, the popper weighs in at 78g and is 160mm long. It uses Halco’s Fish Ring that has an extra turn of wire so nowhere in the ring is there a single strand of wire – giving it a 90 kg strength rating while keeping the diameter to allow the maximum amount of free movement for the trebles. The new popper is available in 13 colours to cover all likely fishing situations. Excessive effort is not required when working this popper. For best results point the rod tip at the lure and sweep the rod down 50-60 degrees, allow the lure to pause momentarily, wind in any slack line and repeat at irregular intervals.
